The rivalry in the Gambia’s music industry is no longer news as artists battle for the GOAT title.
The songs that certain Gambian artists are nowadays dropping leave many fans in no illusion that bitter rivalry has crept into the country’s music scene.
Renowned artist manager Dembo Jobarteh, who managed successful musicians in the country such as ST and Nyancho hinted that stakeholders are not investing in the Gambia’s music industry because of the conflict among artists.
“Our industry has been very blurry because of so many misunderstandings between artists, the discrepancy, the beefs, you name them. I remember very well the day we visited the new minister of Arts and Culture Abdoulaye Jobe. Thepermanent secretary clearly said that they want to help us but they haven’t seen any sense of responsibility in terms of unity and tranquility because they all see the discrepancies that arehappening on social media which, he said, are about beefs and beefs and beefs,” Jobarteh told The Voice Entertainment.
