Traffic Wardens Go on Law-Breaking Spree in Serekunda

By: Momodou Justice Darboe

A team of traffic officers on Thursday went haywire in downtown Serekunda, removing vehicle number plates in what was described as illegal and unauthorized, this medium can authoritatively report.

The screwdriver-carrying traffic wardens descended on vehicles deemed to have parked at undesignated parking spaces along the busy Seyerr Jobe Avenue.

It’s unlawful in The Gambia for the police to remove the number plates of vehicles that have encroached the right of way though the offense of dangerous parking carries a fine of not more than D60,000 or not less than D15,000 or a jail term of 10 years.
