Halifa Jawara, a concerned citizen has described President Adama Barrow’s regime as worse than that of Yahya Jammeh’s.
“Jammeh’s regime is far better than the present government,” he reiterated. Jawara made this revelation during an exclusive interview with The Voice on Tuesday.
According to him, in 2016 Gambians came together under one umbrella to uproot Yaya Jammeh from power due to tribalism and corruption.
He attested that during the former regime at least the situation of the country then was easier compared to the current regime.
He condemned the speech of Barrow which he made during a rally saying that “NPP militants should not be afraid because their leader is in power.”
Jawara expressed dissatisfaction over the remarks, stating that as a leader such words should not be uttered. He said Gambians should be careful of tribalism and be unison to rescue the country.
“We should wake up and fight against corruption if not the country will be doomed. Gambians has voted for change in 2016 but it seems like the opposite. Citizens should know that the current situation of the country is far beyond politics,” Jawara argued.
“We are the cause of the problems because incompetent and selfish people are managing our institutions”, he added.
He notes that the country has reached to a stage that it will be difficult to change unless and until God-fearing people sacrifice for the country.
He warned Gambians to desist from tribal sentiments, corruption/ malpractice in order for them to develop as a nation.
He said Gambia could not develop in the face of high rate of corruption while urging the citizens not to repeat the mistake they made in the last elections.
