SOLICITA Marketing Federation holds AGM

The North Bank Regional Marketing Federation known as SOLICITA in collaboration with SOSILASO National Vegetable Growers Association yesterday held its regional annual general meeting (AGM) under the theme Strengthening Governance and Enhancing Marketing of Vegetables for Socio-economic Growth for Women and Youths.

The meeting held at the SOLICITA office in Kerewan, North Bank Region was sponsored by the ROOTS Project.

Demba Sanyang, Regional Coordinator of the ROOTS Project in NBR described the meeting as relevant in providing space for members to get up-to-date information on narrative and financial reports. He said the project attaches great importance to working with SOLICITA in the drive toward women’s and youth empowerment in boosting vegetable production and sustainable livelihood development. 

The Coordinator hailed the partnership with SOSOLASO for conducting AGM for the six federations across the country and noted that the conduct of the Annual General Meeting would contribute to enhancing trust and promoting confidence building.  

Fatou Jagne, President of SOLICITA Marketing Federation NBR described the maiden AGM as important as it would contribute to empowering women on the significant of the day. 

She noted that such gathering is vital in promoting good governance, transparency, and accountability on the management of funds and also charts the way to discuss other development needs of accelerating empowerment drive 

She thanked ROOTS Project for their unflinching support to the federation financially and in capacity building.

Papa Tunkara, Chairman of the Kerewan Area Council tagged the gathering as crucial in contributing to the women empowerment drive on food and nutrition security. 

Chairman Tunkara said the support provided by the ROOTS project at all levels would contribute to boosting vegetable production and marketing. 

He thanked the sponsor for complementing the council’s efforts in providing much-needed support to women vegetable producers.
