The new Governor for the North Bank Region (NBR) has promised an efficient good service delivery as a governor of the region to complement the work of her predecessor.
Governor Fatou Jammeh Touray speaking to this reporter in Kerewan on Wednesday disclosed that her administration attaches great importance to effective public service delivery while calling on heads of institutions to uphold ethics and professionalism in advancing national development.
She disclosed her plans for effective communication and information sharing at all levels to promote shared learning of best practices.
The Governor commenced her duty by meeting the staff at the Governor’s Office to discuss some important issues including a commitment to duties and rules governing civil service to bring about good results at the workplace.
Commenting on traditional administration, the Governor said her office will engage and support chiefs to settle all land problems for agricultural and residential purposes. She noted that cases of farmland during the rainy season should be adequately looked into while calling on chiefs to sensitize the population on or before the rainy season on land use and find alternative ways of solving land problems.
For the quarterly Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) Meeting, she said the Technical Arm of the region should be proactive. Consequently, she promised to provide opportunities for heads of institutions and NGOs to report on achievements and challenges in terms of implementation of Programmes, Policies, and Projects.
She described TAC as an important decentralized structure for promoting shared learning and providing timely support to institutions and NGOs.
Governor Jammeh Touray, therefore, called on the public to support security forces with timely information, noting that security should be seen as everyone’s business while hailing the security apparatus for their commitment and collaboration in strengthening security.
Dilating on women in leadership positions, Governor JammehTouray thanked the government for placing great importance on women’s empowerment as she encouraged parents to support the educational development of girls at higher levels.
