Honourable Kebba Tumanding Sanneh, NAM for Foni JarrolConstituency, has donated a D150, 000.00 to the sports committee in Jarrol to stage a peace tournament in the junior and senior categories.
The competition that has seen the participation of fourteen community football teams within Jarrol constituency has now reached a climax, the clash of the titans in the knock-out finals scheduled for this weekend, 29th June 2024.
This year’s final will be contested between Wassadu and Joreng, who played out last year’s knock-out final in which Wassaduwon.
Speaking to this reporter, Hon. Sanneh highlighted the importance of giving back to his community through the FoniJarrol Peace Tournament, which he added will foster social cohesion amongst the people of his constituency.
“I want to lead by example. This is one of my campaign promises to bring my constituency together aside from political directions. It’s one of the ways to discourage the youth from embarking on an illegal migration journey. It enables the youth of Foni to frequently visit their families, too, and know the issues around them. The tournament brings peace of mind to our youth,” he stated.
He urged the youth of Foni Jarrol to maintain the peaceful coexistence among themselves as the pathway to any meaningful development of the constituency.
