The Ministry of Health has required all pilgrims for the 2024 Hajj to undergo Covid-19 test upon arrivalat the Banjul International Airport, using the rapiddiagnostic test.
The Ministry said it solicits the continuous support and cooperation of the public in its efforts to preventthe possible spread of Covid-19 in the country, advising returning pilgrims, who tested positive at the Banjul International Airport, to observe safetyprecautions to prevent the spread of the Covid virus.
The health ministry further advised that widespreadmask-wearing should be promoted as a “new normal” for the foreseeable future until viral spread isextremely low or vaccination creates sufficientimmunity in the general population.
“Reduced exposure to high-risk environments is alsocritical to limiting the spread of Covid-19. People should be encouraged to take the vaccines, includingthe boosters,” the ministry stressed.
