Gov’t Confirms Shooting Of Gambian Driver By Senegalese Soldiers

 The government of The Gambia has confirmed the shooting of a Gambian truck driver by the Senegalese soldiers situated in the Casamance. The driver was carrying logs from the Southern Region of Senegal. 

 The Ministry of Information of the Gambia, in a confirmation press release, said the victim, Amadou Jah, is from Kampant village in Foni Kansala.

“The Ministry of Information regrets to inform the general public of a confirmed incident involving one Amadou Jah from Kampant, Foni Kansala, who was shot by Senegalese soldiers at Kelantan in Cassamance,” the Ministry uncovered. 

The Ministry further informed that it has yet to determine the time of the incident. However, the victim was contracted to procure timber logs from Casamance. In the process, this incident unfolded.

“The exact time of the incident is yet to be determined. According to our sources, Mr Jah was contracted by Jerreh Sonko, a log dealer and native of Mandina, Foni Kansala District, to procure timber logs from Casamance. 

“Upon reaching Kelantan, Mr Jah was shot by Senegalese soldiers. He was transported to the Fourth Infantry Battalion in Kanilai around 12:30am and subsequently rushed to Bwiam Hospital. He has since been referred to Ndemban Hospital for further medical treatment,” it stated.

It further clarified that Mr Jah was accompanied on the trip by two of his apprentices who were last seen in the vicinity of Kanilai.
