The Gambia Police Force has opened investigations into the mysterious death of a mother and her daughter in Sinchu Sorrie and the tragic scene reportedly occurred on Friday, June 28, 2024.
The victims are identified as Majula Jabie, aged 40, and her daughter Fatoumatta Ceasay, aged 14, were found deceased in their room, no suspects have been named at this stage.
“Upon receiving a distress call, the Old Yundum CID Unit, along with the Criminal Records Office (CRO) and a team from the CID, was promptly dispatched to the scene. The bodies were discovered on their bed, and standard CSI protocols were observed before the bodies were moved to the EFSTH mortuary in Banjul.
Evidence from the scene included a charcoal pot and a boiler with herbs and liquid, which the police collected for examination. The ongoing investigation will include postmortem examinations to determine the cause of death, and key family members are currently being questioned by the police,” the Police said on Sunday.
