4 Portuguese Ladies Nabbed With Cocaine At Airport-DLEAG

The Drug Law Enforcement Agency of The Gambia (DLEAG) said on Thursday that its operativesstationed within the Banjul International Airport have last Saturday arrested four Portuguese ladies with 30blocks of cocaine, weighing 33kg and 600g.

The women were reportedly arrested during the departure operation of the Barcelona-bound Vuelingflight number VY 7575.

“The suspects are Cabral Roel Vilma, Tavares Mendes Miriam Maria, Dos Santos Furtado Ana Patricia, and Almada Martins Simara Nadiny,” the DLEAG revealed in a press statement. The anti-narcotics agency added:“Similarly, on Sunday, 30 June 2024, a Briton-Mark James Robinson-was arrested with 24 blocks of cocaine weighing 27kg 300g in his checked-in luggage. He was traveling to London Heathrow via Istanbul with Turkish Airlines.

“Both interceptions are supported by a highly coordinated intelligence-led action. The two successive seizures within 24 hours are the biggest airport seizure in history. This goes to demonstrate the vigorous counter-narcotic interdiction mechanism at the Banjul International Airport.”
