Accused arraigned for threatening violence

Muhammad Ceesay was on Monday arraigned before Principal Magistrate Isatou O. Njie of the Kanifing Magistrate Court for threatening Violence.

He was therefore charged with two counts of offence, count one under threatening violence contrary to section 84 of the criminal code cap 10.01 vol III Revised Law of The Gambia 2009. And count two going arm in public contrary to section 79 of the criminal code cape 10.01, Vol.III Law of the Gambia 2009.

According to the particular of his offence, Muhammad Ceesay did on or about on the 9th of July, 2024 at Kotu in the KanifingMunicipality of the Republic of the Gambia intend to intimidate, annoy, assault, and threatened to kill one Mariam Gaye with a knife thereby committed an offence against the law.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge against him when it was read to him.

He replied to the court that he didn’t threaten to kill her, and he added that it was not because of the girl he was having a knife, the reason why the knife was in his hand was that he was eating a mango.

However, he was granted bail in the sum of D75,000.00 with two Gambian sureties.

Inspector Badjie represented the IGP, while the case was adjourned to the 15th of July 2024.
