President Nana Akufo-Addo, who arrived in the Gambia today, is here to seek the support of President Adama Barrow for his Minister of Foreign Affairs & Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwe who is contesting for the Commonwealth Secretary-General position.
“Minister of Foreign Affairs Mamadou Tangara decided to remain in his position and he was leading the race, but changed his mind. So, President Nana Akufo-Addo is coming to seek the Gambia backing for current Ghanaian Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Shirley Ayorkor Botchwe;” a source close to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told The Voice.
According to a source, Dr Tangara has decided to hold on to his position, and the tete-a-tete at State House today is to give President Nana Akufo-Addo and his Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Minister a supporting assurance for this position of Commonwealth Secretary-General. The meeting will also discuss and assure Tangara of his position.
