Omar Jallow who was charged with cannabis trafficking before Kanifing Magistrate Court presided over by Principal Magistrate Thomas Touray on Thursday pleaded guilty to the charge pressed against him while saying that he is a drug user but not a drug peddler.
It was written in his particular offence that Omar Jallow on or about the 17th day of December 2023 at Manjai in the KanifingMunicipality had in his possession 50g of Cannabis sativa a prohibited drug without a valid license and thereby committed an offence against the law.
The accused person pleaded guilty to the charge against him as he told the court that “truly speaking I’m a drug user.”
He added that such things never happened to him since he knows himself because “All I believe is work and earn money, buy cannabis and smoke but I have never been a drug server (vendor).”
The prosecution officer who appeared for the Drug Law Enforcement Agency of the Gambia (DLEAG) applied for the remand of the accused pending the transfer of the case to a special criminal division.
