The Dock Labour Company Gambia (DLCG) lately bestowed a prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award to diplomat, philanthropist and successful businessman Salifu K. Jaiteh at a ceremony held at the Consulate of the Republic of Cyprus in The Gambia.
The DLGC is the latest stevedore company in The Gambia responsible for the affairs and welfare of dockworkers.
The Cyprus consul His Excellency Salifu K. Jaiteh made a sterling contribution during his time as a dock worker and it was in recognition of this that the DLCG awarded him this creditable award.
H. E Jaiteh, who doubles as the CEO of S.K Jaiteh & Sons, expressed gratitude to DLCG staff and management of the ports for the recognition. He described the award as worthy of celebration.
“Before going into the business industry, I was a dockworker. So, every privilege and entitlement I am enjoying in the country today all started from there. He stated that every journey in life has a point of embarkation, adding that he’s still proud to have served as a dock worker.
“I am really appreciative of the award and it means a lot to me. I pray for the continuous progress and development of the company [DLGC] to its desired level. Also, I wish to thank the dockworkers in the country from their President to the last person together with the Managing Director of GPA and his staff for the recognition. I am humbled by the award and it’s a recognition for the entire dockworkers,” postulated the diplomat and successful entrepreneur.
He said the award serves as a challenge for everyone to try to be committed to delivering excellent service at all times.
