As the Gambia government wallowed in the embarrassment that followed the recentresignation and sacking of two Cabinet ministers, this reporter has gathered that the current minister of youth and sports may be a holder of dual nationality.
Sources had hinted The Voice that the youth and sports minister Bakary Badjie had been seized with the issue of acquiring US citizenship for some time now.
His spouse has reportedly acquired a US passport though this was not verified at the time of writing this story.
According to sources, the sports minister flew to the US sometime last year to complete the paperwork associated with the applicationprocess for US citizenship.
Despite several efforts, Minister Badjie did not respond to our attempts for clarification.
The Barrow government has been struggling to wriggle itself out of the embarrassment offailing to vet the appointment of two Cabinet ministers, whose appointments, flouted the Constitution as they were ineligible to hold ministerial positions under the currentconstitutional arrangement. Both hold dual nationality.
