UDP’s Regional Spokesman Calls for Institution of TDA Land Taskforce

The UDP’s spokesperson for the North Bank Region (NBR) has called for the establishment of a TDA land task force.

Mr. Karamo Njie told this reporter in an interview that the time has now come for Minister Bah and the land ministry to set up a task force to investigate all land dealings that happened during Hamat’s tenure as the tourism minister.

Minister Bah has been praised in some quarters for taking a firm stance against illegal land allocations and encroachments but there has been no shortage of criticism in a lot of quarters for his handling of the TDA lands.

Many accused Bah of being pound foolish penny wise as, according to them, the time and resources that he spent on the relatively economically low-value Kamalo lands and Tanbi wetland could have been better directed towards investigating the allocation of the prime TDA lands.

“Hamat cannot distract our attention from the allocations at the TDA under his watch. These are high-value lands that should be given preference over Kamalo or Tanbiwetland,” contended Mr. Njie.

“The best thing for Hamat to do is to support the setting up of a task force to get to the bottom of the land allocations at the TDA when he was the minister of tourism. The lands at the TDA are more priced than the lands he is wasting time and taxpayers’ money on,” he added.

He vowed that the UDP government would turn every stone to ensure the TDA lands allocations are vetted.
