Occupants Around Barrow’s ‘Stolen Land’ Asked to Vacate Within 90 Days-Darboe

By: Momodou Justice Darboe

The secretary general of the UDP has disclosed that some occupants around President Adama Barrow’s “stolen land” have been asked to vacate the area within 90 days.

The Gambia government has reportedly allocated “chief justice’s land” in Fajara to Mr. Barrow in a move severely criticized by the UDP leader.

Lawyer Ousainou Darboe said at a recent political gathering in Kombo Lamin that information have been circulated among the occupants that should leave the area lock, stock and barrel on promise that they would be compensated.

The veteran politician was struggling to understand why the affected occupants should be forced out.

According to him, they were reportedly asked to leave the area to give way to a joint tourism infrastructure project.

“I want to ask GTBoard as to whom they are jointly implementing this joint tourism infrastructure project. What type of tourism infrastructure project are you going to erect there because I’ve never heard of the Gambia government going into building a tourism infrastructure in the area?” stated Darboe. “These are the shady deals going on in secret. They are appropriating people’s lands, squandering national resources,” he lamented.
