Gambia’s track Queen, Gina Mariam Bass Bittaye, reached the women’s 200m semi-finals in Paris in 2024.
She secured a spot in the semi-finals after finishing third with a timing of 22:84s, behind Great Britain’s Asher-Smith Dina and Nigerian Ofili Favour, who finished second and first, respectively.
Gina narrowly missed out on the women’s 100m final on Saturday. She qualified for this event’s semifinals after a comprehensive 1st place finish in the 100m heats with a timing of 11:10s.
In a similar development, Gambia’s 100m men’s record holder, Ebrima Camara, missed the semifinals of the 100m men’s Paris Olympics after a 4th place finish in the heats of the Paris Olympics with the timing of 10:21s.
Sanu Jallow, the Gambia’s national record holder for women’s 800m, also missed the 800m women’s Paris Olympics semifinals.
