Abubacarr Camara, Adama Njie, Yunus Saliu, others listed for Africa Travel 100 Global Leaders Awards 2024

At least seven doyens from The Gambia tourism circle have been listed among other Africans for different categories of the Africa Travel 100 Global Leaders Awards 2024.

As usual, the award ceremony of the Africa Travel – 100 Global Leaders 2024 will take place at this year’s edition of AkwaabaAfrican Travel Market event scheduled for 22nd to 24th September 2024 in Nigeria.

Announcing the 1st Shortlist 2024 Edition for the awards on Tuesday, as released by Ambassador Ikechi Uko, the founder of Akwaaba African Travel Market, Fatou Mas Jobe, The Gambia Former Minister of Tourism and Culture, Malleh Sallah of Djelieba Group, Gambia was listed under the Hospitality category,  Sheikh Tejan Nyang, Head of Institute of Travel and Tourism Of the Gambia (ITTOG) and Dr. Adama bah, the Board Chairman of Institute of Travel and Tourism Of the Gambia (ITTOG), Abubacarr S Camara, Director General of the Gambia Tourism Board (GTBoard) listed under the Leadership category, Chief Adama Njie, Director of Tourism Promotion Gambia Tourism Board (GTBoard) UK Office was listed under Marketing category while  Yunus S Saliu, a Tour, Travel, and Culture Writer listed for Media category.

Tours, Aviation, MICE, Events, Diaspora, and Travel Trade are among the other listed categories of the award.

The award is meant to recognize individuals in different categories regarding their immense contribution to the development of the tourism sector in their countries.

This year’s edition of the Akwaaba African Travel Market event will kick off on 22nd September, the awards day is 23rd September, and it will be held at the Eko Hotels Convention Center Lagos, Nigeria.

Other listed individuals for the awards are from Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Cote d’Ivoire, Benin, Sierra Leone, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Tanzania, South Africa, Togo, Uganda, Belize, UK and USA.

Akwaaba African Travel Market is an event that promotes and markets West Africa to the world. It is one of the West Africa annual expos that touch the entire tourism sector. Since October 2005, travel and tour promoters have met in Lagos, Nigeria to do business in Africa’s biggest market of over 250 million people, as West Africa offers a big market and destination for both private and public organizations.
