Spreading the tentacle of his benevolent gesture across the country, Sulayman Junkung Sawaneh, a Gambian Denmark-based philanthropist recently donated some hospital items to health facilities in the North Bank Region (NBR) and West Coast Region (WCR).
The donated items included bedsheets, wheelchairs, blood pressure machines, and a stretcher bed. The beneficiary health facilities are Illiasa Health Centre, Farafenni General Hospital, Kerewan Health Centre, Njawara Health Centre, SalikenniHealth Centre, Njaba Kunda Health Centre in NBR, and SukutaHealth Centre in West Coast Region.
Handing over the items for distribution, Sulayman JunkungSawaneh who has been donating items to different sectors in The Gambia and Senegal affirmed of the continuity of this his phitantrophic gesture saying “I am not a wealthy man, but we have to come together as Gambians and contribute our quotas to national development.
He disclosed that whatever he donates, he does it from the bottom of his heart and they are not meant for people to praise him, “because this country belongs to us all and the development of it should come from us all.”
Mr Sawaneh stressed that no one will develop the country for Gambians but it can only be developed “by ourselves.”
Officers in charge of the various facilities praised Mr. SulaymanJunkung Sawaneh for his philanthropic gesture, and a few of them affirmed that it was not his first time reaching out to their health centers to donate.
Meanwhile, he commended Honourable Dr Ahmad Samateh, Minister of Health for making available a vehicle for him to distribute the items to various health facilities.
Lamin Manneh, the chairman/secretary general of NODO who on behalf of the donor presented items to Sukuta Minor Health Centre thanked Mr Sulayman Sawaneh for partnering with his organization, NODO, by assisting them with some of the items to support the health center.
