As questions continue to be raised about the Gambia’s oil prospects and the failed oil exploration agreements, a former member of the defunct Gambia National Army(GNA) turned political commentator has called on the Barrow administration to explain to Gambians its dealings with the Macky Sall government, regarding Gambia’s oil reserves.
Mr. Abdoulie Sanyang alleged that the governments of Barrow and Sall had an oil extraction deal which, he said, has been hidden in mystery.
“I have no shred of doubt that the Barrow and Sallgovernments had an oil extraction deal but everything about it was done behind the close-doors. We now expect the new Senegalese President to enlighten Gambians,” stated Sanyang.
He added that the citizens have the right to be informed about issues of national concern.
The Gambia government has been meantime challenged in some quarters to bring about clarity on the oil exploration agreements it signed with international oil drilling companies.
However, the Minister of Petroleum, Nani Juwara, told this medium that he was not aware of any oil extraction deal between The Gambia and Senegal.
