The Drug Law Enforcement Agency (DLEAG) on Tuesday disclosed the arrest of over seven people in possession of pills of ecstasy and other prohibited drugs.
According to the statement of the DLEAG, a 24 years old BayeCheikh Jobe a Senegalese and a resident of Diourbel was arrested at the Amdalai Border post at around 22:00 hours GMT onward with 279 pills of ecstasy while traveling from Serrekunda to Dakar and he concealed them in a transparent nylon bag.
26 years Cherno Jaw, a Senegalese, was arrested at AmdalaiBorder Post at around 7:31 hours GMT onward with 1 piece of cannabis resin, and 59 pills of ecstasy concealed in a transparent nylon bag and placed inside a black and white colour shoe respectively.
Also, a 36-year-old Daddy Mendy resident of Jambanjelly, driver by profession was arrested by ACU of Gambia Police Force on the 23rd August 2024 at 18:00 hours GMT onward with 152 wraps of suspected kush, 1 parcel and 6 wraps of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in white papers and placed inside a transparent nylon bag respectively.
The Agency further stated that “29 years old Muhammed Baldeha resident of Kerr Sering and a businessman was arrested by Serrekunda DLEAG station on the 24th August 2024 at around 19:31 hours GMT onward with (27) parcels of suspected cannabis sativa and 32 pieces of suspected cannabis resin concealed in transparent nylon bag, medicine sachets and further placed in an ash colour bag.
Another 24-year-old Alpha Omar Bah resident of London Corner and a driver by profession was arrested by SerrekundaDLEAG station on the 24th August 2024 at around 17:38 hours GMT onward with 25 pills of ecstasy which were concealed in transparent nylon bag and medicine sachets respectively.
Ousman Oliver, 29 and a resident of Tallinding was arrested by Bundung DLEAG station on the 24th of August 2024 at around 08:45 hours GMT onward with (29) parcels of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in white papers and placed inside a multicolour bag respectively.
Mass Sohna 39 a resident of Kanifing Estate and businessman was also arrested by Old Yundum DLEAG station at the checkpoint on the 27th of August 2024 at around 11:30 hours GMT onward with 1 bundle, 29 wraps of suspected cannabis sativa with 9 wraps of suspected cannabis resin concealed in cement paper, white papers and foil papers and placed inside a green bag.
In addition, Alasana Touray, 28, a resident of Soma was arrested by Soma DLEAG station on the 24th of August 2024 at around 04:25 hours GMT onward with 53 wraps of suspected cannabis resin concealed in foil papers, medical sachets, and inside black trousers hanged inside his bedroom.
However, DLEAG noted that all the suspects were taken into custody while further investigations into their respective matters continued.
