Operatives of the Drug Law Enforcement Agency The Gambia (DLEAG) have disclosed their recent interceptions of drug traffickers with substantial quantities of cocaine and ecstasy pills at the Giboro and Amdalai border posts.
According to a statement obtained from this agency, “The suspect that was arrested at the Giboro border post is a 41-year-old from Guinea Bissau named Aruna Cassama. He was caught on the 29th of August 2024 around 10:00 hours GMT onwards with eleven (11) blocks of cocaine concealed in the trunk of a Toyota Land Cruiser vehicle with registration number RGB 1077 CH.”
Also, a 24-year-old Baye Chekh Jobe, Senegalese National and a resident of Diourbel in Senegal was clutched at Amdalai Border Post on the 25th of August 2024 around 22:00 hours GMT onwards with two hundred and seventy-nine (279) pills of ecstasy.
“In the same vein, 24-year-old Cherno Jallow, another Senegalese National was nabbed on the 26th of August 2024 around 10:00 hours GMT onwards with fifty-three (53) pills of Ecstasy and one (1) piece of hashish. Both suspects were heading to Senegal from The Gambia,” the statement disclosed.
In a similar event but a separate development, the statement revealed that four other suspects were arrested at diverse locations within the Greater Banjul Area with varying types and quantities of drugs.
In narration, Ebrima Jatta, 34 was arrested at Latrikunda on the 28th of August 2024 at around 15:50 hours GMT onward with 100 pills of ecstasy concealed in a transparent nylon bag and placed inside a blue bag while Adama Koroma, 28, female, and Sierra Leonean national was arrested at Brikama Suba – Ward on the 28th of August 2024 at around 10:00 hours GMT onward with 71 wraps of suspected kush.
More so, a 28-year-old Ebrima Njie was also arrested in Banjul on the 28th of August 2024 at around 11:00 hours GMT onward with 1 wrap of suspected cannabis resin (hashish) and some quantities of suspected cannabis ruderalis (skunk) while also, an 18year-old Pa Musa Njie was arrested by the Anti-Crime Unit of GPF at Jabang on the 28th of August 2024 at around 22:00 hours GMT onwards with 12 pieces of suspected cannabis resin (hashish).
“All the suspects were taken into custody while further investigations into their respective matters continued,” the statement added.
