Tanji has been crowned Kombo South District APS sponsored cup champions for the second successive season and in doing so become the first community to retain the title since the inception of the sponsorship by APS.
On Saturday, Tanji defeated Tujereng at the Sanyang football field. Ousman Colley’s only goal in the last minute of the first half was enough for Tanji to seal their victory. Colley capitalized with a header from a 45-meter free kick that was awarded to Tanji in the last minute of the first half.
As winner, Tanji went home with a cash prize of D55, 000, golden medals, and a giant trophy, while Tujereng was given a consolation prize of D45,000 and silver medals as runners-up.
Meanwhile, Tujereng striker, Erima Sama was given D2 000. A trophy as the leading goal scorer, Saraney Jammeh of Tujerengwas given a cash of D1000 with a trophy as the best goalkeeper. Abdoulie Dibba of Tanji received a cash prize of D1000 and a trophy as the tournament’s best player among many other awards.
