GIRAV Restructures Maize Grower Association to Boost Production

The President of the North Bank Maize Growers Association dilated on the need for projects, government, and NGOs to support them with the right tools and machines to boost production and value chain addition on maize. 

Speaking to this medium in Maka, Farafenni, Alhaji ModouTouray said the restructuring of maize growers’ association would contribute immensely to promoting maize farming, value addition, and boost up the supply chain on production of chicken feed. 

He reiterated that the move would enhance income and meet the requirement of school feeding program, as farmers will increase production while calling on farmers to work with district committees to enhance production and productivity. 

The President of the Maize Growers Association thanked farmers for the trust bestowed on him and the team, while assured them of working with all stakeholders and GIRAV in strengthening smallholders’ capacity on resource mobilization and best practices on production techniques. 

He further called on the government to support farmers with processing equipment to address post-harvest losses and contribute to the attainment of food and nutrition security.
