Dou Sano Says Term-Limit Agitators Unfair to Barrow

Presidential adviser Dou Sano has wondered why term-limit agitators want President Adama Barrow to leave the stage after 10 years in office, contending that such a move is unfair to the President.

According to him, no Gambian president was ever forced to hand over power after a decade in office.

“Never in the history of this country had a President been forced to retire after 10 years in office. No-one ever agitated for the resignation of either Jawara or Jammehafter they spent 10 years at the helm of government. So, why President Barrow? This is quite unfair to the President,” stated Sano in an interview with The Voice.

He questioned the wisdom behind the agitation for Mr. Barrow’s “early” retirement.

“How can you retire the champion before his time? President Barrow is God-sent and has demonstrated that he is so far the best President for The Gambia. He has all the qualities that Gambians need in a leader. The President has delivered and continues to deliver life-changing infrastructure projects across the country,” he stated.

“President Barrow is preoccupied with the development of this country and his achievements are here for everyone to see. He is a democrat. He is tolerant. He is a patriot. He is an embodiment of peace. So, why agitate for his exit after 10 years?” he added.
