Operatives of the Drug Law Enforcement Agency Gambia (DLEAG) have continued their war on drug-related activities in the country with their latest arrest of several suspects with various types of drugs at different locations across the country.
The latest press release from the DLEAG gave details of the arrested culprits, dates, and places of their arrest.
According to the press release Ebrima Tamba, 37, and 33-year-old Lamin Jarju both residents of Kunkujang were arrested by the Anti-Crime Unit of GPF on the 1st September 2024 at around 02:30 hours GMT onward with 9 bundles of suspected cannabis sativa which were concealed in cement papers and placed inside a blue coloured nylon bag respectively.
Another suspect, Thomas Jarju, 32, a welder by profession and resident of Latrikunda German was arrested by SerrekundaDLEAG station on the 2nd September 2023 at around 15:25 hours GMT onward with two big bundles of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in cement papers and placed inside a black and blue colour bag pack.
The release also disclosed that Mass Seghore, 34 also a welder by profession and a resident of Banjul was arrested by Banjul DLEAG station on the 2nd September 2024 at around 17:15 hours GMT onward with 14 wraps of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in white papers and placed inside his waist bag.
35 years old Muhammed Koroma, a resident of Bakoteh and a mechanic was also arrested by Anti-Crime Unit of GPF on the 2nd September 2024 at around 19:00 hours GMT onward with some quantities of suspected kush which were found in three different yellow coloured nylon bags.
It continued that 24-year-old farmer, Buba Bojang resident of Mbankam was arrested by Barra DLEAG station on the 3rd September 2024 at around 12:00 hours GMT onward with 1 bundle and some quantities of suspected cannabis sativa which was concealed in cement paper and transparent nylon bag respectively.
On the 4th of September, Ebriam Mbaye from Ndungu Kebbehwho is a driver was arrested by Banjul DLEAG at the ferry terminal around 12:40 hours GMT onward with 49 pills of ecstasy, he concealed them in a transparent nylon bag.
A 19-year-old Alieu Balde from Latrikunda Sabiji mechanic by profession arrested on 4th September by Wellingara DLEAG station at around 1050 hours GMT with 97 parcels of suspected cannabis sativa which were concealed in white papers and placed in a multi-coloured nylon bag.
Alieu Singhateh, a resident of Wellingara was also arrested by Wellingara DLEAG station on 4th September around 1200 hours GMT with three parcels and five wraps of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in multi-coloured nylon bags. More so, an 18-year-old Saikouba Jarra, a Malian residing in Ginack and farmer by profession was arrested by Banjul DLEAG station at the ferry terminal on the 4th September 2024 at around 18:40 hours GMT onward with 2 bundles of suspected cannabis sativa that he concealed in a yellow plastic bag and placed inside a military camouflage bag.
However, all suspects were taken into custody as investigation into their respective cases continued.
