By: Haruna Kuyateh

Njawara Village Development Committee (VDC) of Lower Badibou North has kick-started the renovation and partitioning of the Community Clinic.

The community clinic will be partitioned into different blocks including Staff Quarter, Public Health Office, and the creation of an exit door to facilitate the usage of Community Ambulance services.

The Regional Health Directorate of Farafenni recently opened a public health office, with additional staff including a Midwife to enhance effective service delivery. This is meant to complement government efforts to strengthen health care services.

Pa Panneh, a representative of the Alkalo described the relationship between Alkalo and VDC as cordial, noting that the ongoing renovation works at the Community Clinic demonstrated their commitment to advance effective health care.

He thanked the people of Njawara for their moral and financial contribution to the clinic, disclosing that the clinic was built in 1990 with support from partners and proceeds realized from the Njawara Marathon for support of healthcare development.

Panneh called on the 16 communities within the catchment area to come together and create a Catchment Area Committee (CAC) to support the clinic in promoting healthcare.

He applauded the government for providing a Community Ambulance Service for the benefit of the community and its surroundings.

Mariama Sillah, Officer-In-Charge of Njawara Community Clinic underscored the government’s commitment to quality healthcare and promoting community participation.

She thanked the VDC for their support and championing the renovation of the community.

Mustapha Touray, the VDC Chairman hailed nurses and Officer In Charge of the clinic for their commitment to providing quality healthcare services to the community.

He said the renovation became necessary following consultation with facility staff and the deployment of additional staff by the Ministry of Health.

Chairman Touray thanked the alkalo for the support, noting that D75,000 was mobilized by citizens of Njawara to support the renovation while using the occasion to call on people of Lower Badibou North to come forward to support the clinic in the quest to provide quality and effective health care services.
