Briton Admits Cocaine Trafficking Charges

Mark Robinson, a British citizen who was arrested at the Banjul International Airport with cocaine, has pleaded guilty to charges of cocaine trafficking. 

Prosecutors charged Robinson with the offence of ‘aggravated drug trafficking’ contrary to Section 43A (1) of the Drug Control (Amendment) Act, 2010.

The particulars of the offence read that Robinson on or about 30 June 2024, at the Banjul International Airport and diverse places in the West Coast Region of the Republic of The Gambia, had in his possession 24 blocks of cocaine, weighing 27kg and 300g.

He was further charged with ‘dealing in prohibited drug’ contrary to Section 33 (1) (c) of the Drug Control Act, Cap 13:05, Volume III of the Law of The Gambia (2009).

He also admitted the allegation of dealing in cocaine at the Banjul International Airport on or about 30 June 2024, weighing 27kg and 300g.

The case has been adjourned to 24 September 2024, following his guilty plea.
