Celtic FC defeated Unicorns FC in its first game of the season. At the same time, Star Boys FC also defeated Jeshwang FC by one goal in the ongoing Serekunda West Sports Development Organisation’s summer Nawattan.
The first half ended in a barren scoreline after many efforts Celtic FC and Unicorns FC and Ebrima Manneh put Celtic in the lead in the 51 minutes of the second half.
It was a tough encounter between Celtic and Unicorns during the last 15th minutes of the second half as Unicorns FC tried so hard to unlock the defence of its opponents, but Celtic FC remained resolute.
Malang Badjie, the head coach of Celtic, said they were well prepared for this match because Unicorns FC is a team that always gives them a tough time every year they play.
“We played them every year and used to win against them. Nonetheless, we are well prepared both physically and mentally to retain our dominance over them,” he stated.
Sheriffo Darboe, the head coach of Unicorns FC, thanked the club for encouraging his boys to continue working hard for their next game, and he further thanked the community members for their efforts and hard work toward the team’s preparation.
Celtic FC lost their first game of the season. This is Unicorns FC’s first game of the Nawettan season.
Meanwhile, Star Boys FC won by a lone goal against Old Jeshwang FC in an ongoing Serekunda West Sports Development Organisation’s summer Nawattan.
John Jarju of Star Boys FC scored in the 56th minute of the game. Sheriff Bojang assisted.
Old Jeshwang FC pulled the strings on several occasions, but the leader was defensively disciplined.
Sainey Tamba, the head coach of Star Boys, told The Voice Newspaper that “the match was fantastic because their game plan has worked well. The team is new at the park, that’s why whenever they are playing, they play with cautiousness in the first half.”
“Immediately, the second started my boys attacked until the end without mercy. We will continue to work hard to maintain our winning spirit as planned,” he told The Voice in an interview.
Lamin Marena, the head coach of Old Jeshwang FC, said that he is very disappointed because they lost both the first and second games.
“I am advising my boys to go back to the field and work harder because today’s performance is very disappointing,” he recommended to this reporter.
