The police had asked The Voice newspaper’s Momodou Justice Darboe to report to the police HQ in Banjul on Monday following his release from detention last Saturday.
The police detained Mr. Darboe last Thursday evening following the publication of a story about President Adama Barrow’s reported exit strategy in which, it was reported that some NPP officials were quoted as saying that the President had in mind Muhammed Jah of Q-Group as his replacement on the marble boxes in the 2026 general election.
The police investigators said this story had some national security implications.
They charged Darboe with false publication and broadcasting, before escorting him to the detention cell at the police HQ.
He was released on a D25,000 court bail on Saturday morning.
Meanwhile, the Managing Director and Editor-In-Chief of The Voice, Mr. Musa Sheriff, was also asked to report to the police HQ on Monday morning.
