Man Appears in Court for ‘Causing Malicious Injuries’

One Samba Ceesay appeared before Magistrate K.B. Sambou of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court yesterdayon charges of causing malicious injuries.

Samba stands accused of “punishment for malicious injuries in general”, contrary to Section 312 (1) of the Criminal Code, Cap 10:01, Vol. lll of the Laws of The Gambia.

The particulars of the alleged offence states that the accused on or about the 24 March 2024, at Sanyangvillage in the Kombo South district of West Coast Region, wilfully and unlawfully damaged a fence valued at D68, 300, being the property of one Bully Saidy.

When the charges were read to him, he deniedculpability and was granted bail in the sum of D100, 000.00. He must provide one Gambia surety, who shall depose to an affidavit of means.

The case resumes on 2 November 2024.
