By Yunus S Saliu

Members of the MBA Class of 2019 of the University of The Gambia (UTG) on Saturday, 28th September 2024, held a maiden reunion get-together event at Coco Ocean Resort and Spa, Bijilo.

The members used the reunion to dine, wine, chat, and network among themselves after years of their graduation from the Gambia’s first university, UTG, without a major gathering.

At the get-together event, members in their numbers take to the podium to share their experiences during their days at the university and at their present stage while they laugh, chat, and complement each other with great enthusiasm.

In a short remark as the merriment continued, Mr. Gibriel Njie, a member of the MBA Class of 2019 of the UTG recalled their first time to start their MBA at the university but noting that then and now the difference is clear, “because everybody is big up.”

So, “Thanks to those who had taken us through the journey, especially our professor who had made us who we are today, and also our appreciation to others such as Dr. Omar and Njie,” he said and noted that a lot of the members have progressed to the next level. Again, “thank you very much for doing great things for us.”

He went further that the MBA Class of 2019 of the UTG should agree on how to move things forward by meeting periodically to see to members’ well-being.

Professor Fanneh thanked the members for coming up with the reunion of the MBA Class of 2019 event saying “The good thing is that we all graduated together but after graduation, we did not see each other as usual. The reunion you created now is a good idea but the most important thing is the sustainability of it.”

The professor however suggested some ways out to the members regarding the sustainability of their reunion saying he is always proud to see the products of what he has designed regarding the MBA programs in different areas and “you people are making me proud and you are also the testimony of what I designed. It does not stop there you guys are now promoted through your hard work; this is success in life.”

He encouraged them further to continue working hard saying he wants every member of the MBA Class of 2019 of the UTG to continue moving higher.

However, Messrs Yankuba Jallow, LaminNjie, Dr Umaru, Dr Njie, and Ma’am Amie among others spoke at length and encouraged each other at the event. They thanked members who had planned the event for making it a success.

Rounding up the event, gift items were presented to Professor Fanneh and a few members to recognize their contributions.
