Agents of the Drug Law Enforcement Agency of The Gambia (DLEAG) stationed at the Gambia Banjul International Airport reportedly arrested a Portuguese national with 99 pellets of cocaine.
DLEAG said 39-year-old Silva was arrested on 1 October 2024, with pellets of suspected cocaineconcealed in black socks and tugged in his underwear.
The anti-narcotics agency also reported that a 21-year-old Musa Jarju of Sinchu Baliya was arrested by DLEAG’s Wellingara station on 2 October 2024, with 161 wraps of suspected cannabis sativa.
The agency said 35-year-old Amadou Jobe of Kiang Sibito was arrested on 1st October bynarcotics officers at the DLEAG Sibanor stationlocated at Kabokorr. He was reportedly arrested with four big bundles of suspected cannabis sativa.
“The 29-year-old resident of Brufut and a borehole driller by profession was arrested by BrusubiDLEAG station on October 1, 2024, with 21 parcels of suspected cannabis sativa which was concealed in a transparent and multi-coloured nylon bag,” DLEAG said in a Facebook post.
DLEAG further reported that 30-year-old EbrimaSowe, a resident of Abuko and a butcher by profession, was arrested by the Anti-Crime Unit(ACU) on 28 September 2024, with 19 pieces of suspected cannabis resin (hashish).
It also reported that a 2-year-old resident of Lamin Babylon Ebrima Ceesay, who is a tile man by profession, was arrested by ACU on 29thSeptember with wraps of suspected cannabis sativa.
The agency meanwhile said a 22-year-old KebbaDarboe of Sukuta was arrested by CTI DLEAG station on September 30, 2024, with 27 pieces of suspected cannabis resin, one wrap of suspected cannabis sativa, and seven pills of ecstasy.
“52-year-old Alieu Badou Bojang, a resident of Sukuta, was arrested by CTI DLEAG station on September 30, 2024, with (1) a bundle of suspected cannabis sativa which was concealed in cement paper and inside a multi-colored bag,” DLEAG reported.
It also reported that a 25-year-old Abdou Keita of Tanji was arrested by Tanji DLEAG station on 2ndSeptember with 26 pills of ecstasy.
The agency said a 28-year-old Senegalese national Matar Diop was arrested at the Banjul Ferry Terminal on September 26th with 80 pills of ecstasy.
DLEAG also reported that 32-year-old Lamin Manneh of Konteh Kunda Sukoto was arrested at Banjul Ferry Terminal on September 29th with three big bundles of suspected cannabis sativa.
“22-year-old Yankuba Marong, a resident of Tanji,was arrested by Brusubi DLEAG station on September 27th, 2024 with 17 wraps of suspected cannabis sativa which were concealed in white paper and placed inside a multi-coloured bag,” the agency said.
