Salifu Trawally, a marabou who was accused of two charges including stealing a motor vehicle and obtaining a huge sum of money by pretense from his client on Thursday appeared before the Bundung Magistrate Court presided on by Magistrate Dawda Fatty.
Muhammed Dukureh, the client and complainant, testified that the incident started sometime in 2022 at Welingara when his wife introduced him to this marabout when he was going through chest pain. Then the accused obtained a sum of D989,000 with the pretext that he would provide him with local medication that would treat his illness which turned out to be false
Meanwhile, Muhammed added that the accused also stole his motor vehicle, sold it, and traveled outside The Gambia.
However, the accused who pleaded not guilty on both counts was granted bail.
The Magistrate adjourned the case to 14th October, 2024.
