Accused pleaded guilty but denied trespasses count into in-law’s compound

Abdoulie Ceesay, on Monday pleaded guilty of one of the two count offence he was charged with before the BundungMagistrate Court but emphasized that he did not trespass into his in-law’s compound.

The accused, Abdoulie Ceesay, in his testimony as PW1 said “I will accept that I wounded him but I did not attack him at his compound.” 

In his narration, he explained that he went to visit his sister at Abuko who is a wife to the complainant, and that the issue happened in the street and he attacked Ebrima in his office and not his compound.

The police prosecutor Touray asked the accused if he did not know that the compound belonged to Ebrima PW1, and he said he knew. 

He asked further why he went to his compound after he knew they had an issue, but he replied that but he replied that he didn’t wound him in his compound but that he attacked him at the office.

The prosecutor also asked if the complainant ever invited him to his office, he answered ‘no.’

Prosecutor again asked him why did he attack him and he said because the complaint wounded his sister, the complainant’s wife who was 7 months pregnant.

Meanwhile, Prosecutor Touray put it to him that, it wasn’t the case, saying the case was he unlawfully entered the compound and assaulted him, which was the reason he was taken to Anti-Crime Unit in Banjul and the same reason brought him before the court which the accused strongly denied.

Prosecutor further put it to him that all what he, the accused, testified before the court were nothing but false.

At this juncture, Magistrate Dawda Fatty adjourned the case to 10th October 2024. 

Meanwhile, the accused was charged with two offence including actual bodily harm and trespasses in his in-law, EbrimaSenghore’s compound at Abuko on 3rd February 2024

The accused pleaded guilty on one count of the offence which is the actual bodily harm while he denied the trespasses count.
