The Minister of Public Service, Administrative Reform, Policy Coordination, and Delivery has assured that his ministry is committed to ensuring that public service becomes a pillar of national development that is responsive to the evolving needs of the country.

Hon. Minister Baboucarr Bouy made this statement, on Monday, October 7 2024 during the official opening of a two-day validation workshop of the Ministry of Public Service, Administrative Reform, Policy Coordination, and Delivery Strategic Plan 2024-2028 held at Metzy Hotel.

He explained that the ministry’s strategic plan was anchored on three key pillars namely, Administrative Reforms, Strategy and Policy Coordination, and Performance Management and delivery.

These pillars, he added, are designed to support the overarching goal of enhancing efficiency, effectiveness and accountability within the public sector, adding that the validation of MoPS plan was pivotal.

However, he disclosed that their task will not just be limited to assessing the content of the plan, but to ensure that the final products reflect the collective realities of public service and the aspirations of its stakeholders.

According to Minister Bouy, the future of public service and by extension the country depends on his ministry’s ability to lay a solid foundation for a responsive, accountable, and efficient public service that truly serves the people and can stand the test of time in an ever-changing national and global environment.

“Our public service must also leverage on the opportunities offered by technology so that our citizens can benefit from better public services,” said Minister Bouy.

He reminded the gathering that the ministry was established in 2022 with the mandate of reorganizing the public service and coordinating the development and administration of policies and systems aimed at creating a responsive public service delivery.

“This validation should provide an opportunity for us to collectively scrutinize and refine the strategies embedded in the plan by ensuring that they are aligned with core values of highly performing civil service and grounded in the principles of meritocracy, fairness, and responsiveness to the needs of our people,” Minister Bouy concluded.
