Football Tiff Lands Tubakuta Man in Court

An argument over player qualification has reportedly led to the injury of one Amadou Jallow and a Tubakuta man was last Wednesday arraigned in court to answer charges, bordering on the football tiff.

Kawsu Touray appeared before Magistrate A. Fofana of the BrikamaMagistrates’ Court on charges ofassault, causing actual bodily harm contrary to Section 228 of the Criminal Code, Cap 10:01, Vol. lll of the revised laws of The Gambia (2009).

The prosecution alleged that Kawsu on or about 7 September 2024, at Tubakutavillage, West Coast Region, unlawfully assaulted one Amadou Jallow by hitting him on his head, causing him actual bodily harm.

The prosecution said the incident occured at Tubakuta football field,where Kawsu had an argument with Amadou over a player’s qualification to play a football match.  

“As a result, they exchanged abusive words and the accused hit him on his head, which also hit the fence and he sustained injuries,” said the prosecution.

Kawsu denied the allegations and was granted D10,000 bail as his case continues. 

The Inspector General of Police was represented in Wednesday proceedings by Corporal 7232 Ebrima Fofana while the accused had no legal representation.
