Kerewan School’s Mgt. Appeal for Infrastructure Investment Assistance, Others

The Management of Kerewan Upper Basic and Senior Secondary in the North Bank Region has made a passionate appeal for the renovation of the school’s classroom and administrative block as well as support in drilling a borehole.

The management also launched an appeal for the provision of additional toilets as it called on parents to advance the educational pursuit of their children.

These appeals were made to both the government and the people of Kerewan in a radio talk show on the Kerewan-based North Bank Community Radio recently. 

The Principal of Kerewan Senior Secondary School, Therese Mendy, said her administration and teachers “are fully committed” to the attainment of the qualityeducation target. 

Madam Mendy thanked the government,through the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, for the delivery of text books which, she described, as timely and significant in enhancing teaching and learning. 

She called on parents and communities around Kerewan to support the school to increase enrolment and retention, urging parents and guardians to regularly visit the school to assess the performance of children and wards. 

Madam Mendy capitalized on the moment to launch an impassioned appeal to government, citizens of Kerewan and organizations to renovate and construct standard classrooms at her school, additional toilet facilities,computer and science labs, administrative block and staff quarters. She also appealed for the drilling of a borehole, saying the growing number of students and teachers calls for more support and collaboration. 

The Principal of Kerewan Upper Basic School, Borry Sise, described the performance of students in the last GABCE or grade 9 exams as impressive, enthusing that some students scored aggregates 8, 12 and 16. 

He challenged parents and communities to take ownership of the school as he called on them to be responsive to the educational needsof their children by complementing government efforts through the provision ofmore learning materials.
