Sifoe Caliph enjoins leaders to put Gambia first in their heart

The new Caliph General of Siffoe Kanteh Kunda Caliphates has urged all leaders in the country, irrespective of their faith, to place the love of The Gambia and its people in their hearts first, and choose leaders based on national interest.

Sheikh Qadi Abdullah Kanteh made this remark recently during his usual Friday sermon at Kanteh Kunda Caliphate’s main mosque in Sifoe, West Coast Region.

“People are given a position to lead based on the trust they have in them to make their lives better. All leaders whether, our NAMs, President, Alkalolus, Chairmen/women, Kabilohead just to name a few owe it a duty to use their positions to serve the people and make life better for them,” Qadi Kantehpreached.

Sheikh Qadi Kanteh accepted the Caliph General leadership following the recent demise of the Caliph General of SiffoeKanteh Kunda Caliphate, the late Alhaji Momodou Kanteh.

Caliph Kanteh challenged all those who are in the leadership mantle of any position to be faithful to their country, adding that every leader needs to change his or her attitude towards Gambians and non-Gambians alike and they must put Allah first in what they do.

“We should not put people into leadership positions based on personal interest. All hands must be on deck in the country to put people in leadership based on the interest of the country not individual, group, or political interest,” Qadi Kantehemphasized.

He used the sermon to urge Muslim Ummah in the country to continue to worship Allah the Almighty and always seek His blessings in uniting people for the sake of the Islamic religion.

“What I’m preaching here today is part of my responsibility as an Imam. If you lead people make them well informed of what they need to know. I will be judged according to what I say. That is why, as a congregation you need to listen to the word of Allah so that, you can benefit from my preaching,” Qadi Kanteh concluded.
