Erejang FC defeated Galaxy FC by a lone goal at the Serekunda West Mini-Stadium on Tuesday, 15th October 2024.
It was a nail-biting affair between Erejang FC and Galaxy FC in the first half, which failed to produce a goal after crafting many goalscoring opportunities.
Esidor Jatta’s brilliant goal in the 59 minutes gave Erejang FC the successful qualification to the next stage of the competition.
Lamin Sarr the head coach of the losing Galaxy FC, said his team has the ambition to compete this year to get themselves qualified to a more advanced stage of the Nawettan as they have never passed a group stage.
“We came with different style of play and game approach just to qualify, but we have new players and this is the first season of playing Nawattan, they could not create goalscoring chances,” he stated in the post-match intervention with The Voice newspaper.
Parick Sambou, the head coach of Erejang FC, expressed joy with the result and described the contest as a hard-fought one.
“This is the only game we were waiting for to get qualification for the round 16. If we lose this, we are going to lose a place in the next stage,” he noted
Erejang FC sits on 7 points while Galaxy FC is on 4 points.
