NPP constituency chairman for Lower Saloum Pa Matarr Sowe, who has been battling with multiple fractures sustained during the past local council elections, has broken his silence and appealed for assistance from the ruling party.
“I must admit that I received some help from my party towards my treatment but still now, I am battling with expenses for my treatment. I have spent a lot of my own money towards the cost of my treatment and presently, I am exhausted and need more help from my party and any other supporter of my party in restoring my health,” he told The Voice in a recent interview. He added:”I was involved in an accident during the past Chairmanship campaign and since then, my health has not been normal. I want to make a personal appeal to the President and the entire executive of the NPP to also help me to maintenance my vehicle that was badly damaged during the accident. At least, if the vehicle is fixed, I can be able to run my own errands and fight to restore my health.”
According to Sowe, he consulted the sitting National Assembly Member for Lower Saloum Constituency Sainey Jawara and other high-ranking NPP officials in the CRR to come to his aid but to no avail, revealing that anytime he raised the issue of his vehicle with the senior NPP officials in the region, he has been always asked to wait.
“Nothing is still done to fix the vehicle that got spoilt during the course of the campaign. I must admit that the President had given me the necessary moral and financial support during my admission at the Ndemban Clinic and at the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital. However, currently my main concern is my health and my vehicle so that I can continue to do my own things without depending on the handouts from some of my friends and family members, who have been helping me since April of last year,” the NPP’s Lower Saloum chairman disclosed.
“I am also appealing to the executive to look into my issue and see how best they can help me out. Equally, I am calling on the supporters of this great party to give me a helping hand to restore my health and my damaged vehicle, which was my main source of income,” he added.
Sowe revealed that on the day of the Chairmanship election, his vehicle was involved in an accident while transporting an NPP supporter to Simbara Hai to vote.
