Future Star FC Extends Unbeaten Record

By Penda Joof

Future Star FC extended its unbeaten record with a win against Old Hands FC by 2-0 in the ongoing Serekunda West Development Organisation’s summer Nawattan on Wednesday, October16, 2024.

Ahamed Tijan Sanyang opened the score in the two minutes of the game.

Yahya Saidykhan put the game out of reach for the veterans in the 77 minutes of the encounter for one of the best seasons a team can yearn for.

The veterans, Old Hands, pushed hard, but Future Stars were just too heavy to match.

Nelson Slyva, the head coach of Future Star FC, said they aimed to win against every team they played.

“We have qualified before winning this game. The spirit of winning has been with us since the start of the season,” he noted.

He said they need to work hard because they are having more pressure now than before and their next opponent is his former team which he served since 2015 as assistant coach, and now left for Future Stars where he is the head coach.

“So, it’s a pressure for me. If they win against us, we are not going to be happy about it. I am hoping for the best,” he said.

Sheikh Ndure, the head coach of Old Hands, advised the teams that qualify for the next round to embrace discipline throughout the season to avoid violence.

Future Star recorded 10 points after four games and occupied the top spot. Old Hands only recorded 1 point.
