Reliance Financial Services staff Sulayman Njiehas been granted bail in the sum of D3,000,000 for the alleged offense of “stealing by clerk or servant.”
He appeared before Magistrate K.B Sambou of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, October 17, 2024.
Sulayman is alleged to have in the month of August 2024 at Reliance Financial Services inBrikama and its diverse places employed as a teller and by virtue of his position stole D3,000,000.00, being the monies withdrawn from various customers’ bank accounts.
When the charge was read to him, Sulayman denied the charge.
Deputy Superintendent Buteh Sawaneh, who had earlier announced his representation for the Inspector General of Police, applied for adjournment to enable him to secure theprosecution’s first witness in the case and he did not object to the bail for the accused person.
The court granted the application made by the prosecution and the matter is set to resume on November 18, 2024, for the commencement of the hearing.
The accused person is admitted to bail in the sum of D3, 000,000.00 with two Gambian sureties, who must deposit their property title deeds.
