Pres. Barrow Says, He is the ‘Beacon of Gambia’s Development’

By Kemo Kanyi

President Adama Barrow attributes the nation’s development to himself at a meeting with surrounding communities of his home village of Mankamang Kunda that visited him to discuss issues related to national matters on Thursday.

The Gambian leader who is currently on his annual vacation said that every developed nation starts their development journey with one of its presidents and expressed certainty that The Gambia’s journey to development is destined to him by God.

“So, the development of The Gambia, I believe, is destined to me by Allah. Its progress would be a result of my foundation. America has many presidents, but they have never forgotten Abraham Lincoln. He was their development foundation,” President Barrow told the visiting delegation at his home.

He stated that the country has achieved numerous developments in the past eight years, which were unthinkable then.

“We used to hear such developments in other countries, but now we have them here. Who has ever thought that The Gambia would have flyover roads? No one has ever thought about that. When I stated earlier, my adversaries said it can’t be possible, but now it’s a reality,” the President noted.

President Barrow further told the delegation that one’s enemy would always try to deny the development agendas one wants to achieve.

“When we were constructing the Niumi ‘Hakalang Road’, there were villages that were reciting the Holy Quran to curse its possibility. They have given out charity so that would not be possible. Today, they are the beneficiaries of that road. This is the way adversaries think, but Allah wouldn’t help them,” he stated.

He assured all Gambians that wherever they are resident, his government’s assistance will reach them
