Man Pleads Not Guilty to Possession Of “Skunk”

One Yusupha Chorr appeared before the Magistrate I.O. Njie of the Brikama Magistrates Court on charges of possession of prohibited substances (Skunk) on Tuesday.

The indictment before the court charges the accused person with “possession of prohibited drugs” contrary to Section 35 (2) (a) of the Drug Control Act 2014 as amended.

Drug Law Enforcement Agency of The Gambia was represented by Inspector N.F Korita, and the accused person was not represented.

The prosecution alleged that Yusupha Chorr on or about the 27th day of March 2024, at Tanji in the West Coast Region in the Republic of The Gambia had in his possession 2g 665mg of Cannabis Sativa (skunk) a prohibited drug and thereby committed an offense. 

The accused person pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read to him. The matter was adjourned to the 28th of October, 2024. For hearing 

He was granted bail by the court in the sum of D30,000.00 with a Gambian surety who shall deposit his or her passport or Identity Card to the Registrar of the Courts.
