Bubacarr Sanneh, a Westfield resident was Wednesday arraigned before Magistrate M. Faal of the KanifingMagistrate Court for possession of 28g 101mg of Cannabis Sativa contrary to Section 35(2)(a) of the Drug Control Amendment Act, 2014
According to the particulars of his offense, it is alleged that Bubacarr Sanneh on or about the 24th day of January 2024 at Westfield in the Kanifing Municipal, had in his possession 28g 101mg of Cannabis Sativa a prohibited drug without a valid license, thereby committed an offense against the law.
The accused however pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him in a Gambian Gambian language he understood, he further replied to the court that ” “they didn’t find any drugs with me.’’
The prosecution officer who announced his appearance for Drug Law Enforcement Agency (DLEAG), LK Jobarteh, applied for an adjournment to enable him to secure his witnesses and didn’t object to the bail for the accused and his application was granted.
Bubacarr Sanneh was granted bail in the sum of D75,000 with one Gambian surety who must deposit his valid National Identity Card and swear to an affidavit of means.
The case was adjourned to the 12th of November for the commencement of the hearing.
She concluded that putting The Gambia in that context, women are highly underrepresented.
