Old Jeshwang defeated Jatta’z FC in the penalty shootouts of the ongoing Wave knockout Preliminary Rounds at Serekunda West mini-stadium after a scintillating goalless draw on Wednesday.

Old Jeshwang FC and Jatta’z pulled a resounding performance to advance through. Goal chances were created, but none of the teams were able to decide in the regulation.

In a post-match interview, Essa Sarr the head coach of Old Jeshwang, said they have prepared themselves to sail through because the knockout is their only hope of playing Nawettanfootball this season after being eliminated from the league.

“That’s why we concentrate on the knockout because the knockout is a competition we need. Concentrating on two cups is very difficult, but now our concentration is only on the knockout,” he told the voice.

According to him, they have had the problem of scoring since the start of the season, including the league.

The press was not given a chance for a post-match reaction by Ousman Touray, the head coach of Jatta’z, who told the media that he was not entertaining an interview due to his mood after losing the game.

The match ended on a penalty shoot-out (3-1) from the penalty spot.
