Kinteh Kunda Janneh Ya LBS renovated at sum of D1.6 million

Kinteh Kunda Janneh Ya Lower Basic School in North Bank Region, on Friday, received 20 tables and 40 chairs, reading books, and a set of football jerseys from Darboe Jula and partners in the UK. 

The presentation of the items was held at the school grounds and attended by the Regional Education Directorate in Kerewan, School Management Committees, and students. 

Darboe Jula and partners also renovated four classrooms and an office in the school.

Fatou S Jaw, Headteacher of the school described the gesture as important in promoting teaching and learning. She said the contribution by citizens in America to renovate some classrooms and an office in the school was a sign of their commitment to education in the country.

Karamo K. Kinteh chairman of the School Management Committee thanked Darboe Jula and partners for their unflinching support for education.

He also thanked the sponsors in Diaspora for their invaluable contributions to the school.

Chief Fabala Fadia Kinteh of Lower Badibou said contribution to education is fundamental, noting that the school was established in 1932 and continues to educate numerous students. He lauded the effort of the donor and partners in consolidating the success registered by his late father, Master Njundu Darboe. 

Meanwhile, he urged the students to be disciplined and committed to their educational dreams. 

Muhamed Darboe, Coordinator of Darboe Jula Associate underscored the partners’ commitment in complementing government efforts in education. 

Saloum Kinteh Principal Education Officer at Regional Education Directorate Region 3 noted that education plays an important role in human development.

He later thanked the donor for complementing government efforts.

Buramanding Solo Kinteh, chairman of the Village Development Committee disclosed that the VDC has opened a computer lab for students. 

She noted that the renovation of the four classroom blocks and office by the citizens in America is worth over D1.6 million, adding that plans are underway for staff quarters and additional classrooms.
