Community sports committee seeks assistance from Samaritans

In a joint appeal, the Bakalarr, Mademba Kunda, Madina Sidia, and Nema Kunku (BMMN) Sports Committee in Upper Nuimi of the North Bank Region seeking assistance from institutions, organizations, and individuals to support the committee in promoting grassroots football and other sporting activities in the region. 

The committee is soliciting financial and material support toward the community-led initiative of fencing the football field, providing sporting gear and training of committee members, coaches, and referees for the betterment of sports especially football in the region. 

As the committee prepares for the final match of the Late Almamo Demba Memorial District League tournament this Saturday between Bakalarr United and Nuimi Lamin, Seedy Ndure, Chairman of the Sports Committee, in a brief interview with this medium in Bakalarr disclosed that the district league was sponsored by Salifu Saine, a citizen of Mademba who is currently playing football in Germany.

The purpose of organizing a village league between four communities was to foster stronger collaboration, networking, and unity towards the attainment of sustainable development in the communities and in the region. 

Alfusainy Saine, Adviser to the Sports Committee underscored the numerous activities undertaken towards a successful inter-village league, citing inclusive participation of boys and girls at all levels of the tournament. 

He thanked players, coaches, referees, and supporters for a peaceful match. 

Lamin Jallow, Secretary to the committee underscored the need for support and collaboration in promoting grassroots football. He said the final match of the late Almamo Demba Memorial District league tournament brought together 14 teams from Lower and Upper Nuimi. 

The proceeds from the tournament would support fencing the perimeter fence and enhance revenue generation to support youth and sports development activities. 

Omar Drammeh, the Public Relations Officer of the committee hailed teams and communities for their immense contribution towards a free and fair league.

Amadou Bah, Head Coach for Bakalarr United FC said his team is well prepared for the final while emphasizing the need to support the sports committee and teams in all ways.
